Focus and Scope
Esic Market with ISSN 0212-1867 and e-ISSN 1989-3574 is a periodical publication directed at promoting academic research and spreading business knowledge, placing particular emphasis on content related to the areas of business organization and marketing in any of their perspectives.
The journal’s aim is to potentiate the development of research and establish a link between academics and researchers all over the world by publicizing their work in English and Spanish.
It aspires to reinforcing the links between academic and professional worlds through a common forum for reflection and debate, rejecting any dissociation between action and intellect, that are nothing other than different aspects of one same ordered action in a human, free and effective economy; an economy that Esic Market sees from a personalized view, on the institutional basis of companies and market.
The journal publishes theoretical and scientific articles that contribute to creating, validating and enriching a number of aspects that skillfully explain the phenomena and action in business and help those involved to take better decisions in the spheres of strategic management, accounting, human resource management, education, information and production management, company logistics, processes of internationalization, marketing, etc., that are applicable or applied to any sector of business.
Contributions may adopt a theoretical, explanatory and/or confirmatory perspective from different methodological and multidisciplinary approaches.
ESIC-Market selects articles that are published under a system of double-blind peer review, following the practices of quality scientific journals. Esic-Market publishes three regular issues a year, following an open access policy.
On-line publishing speeds up the process of revision and editing. ESIC-Market is committed to open mode publishing because it enables universal access to knowledge. All the articles in ESIC-Market are published in both English and Spanish.
Frequency of publication
ESIC-Market publishes three regular issues a year. The three issues in one same year are all the same length. Occasionally ESIC-Market may publish special issues on specific subjects of research. These special issues may have specific editors. For these special issues, specific appeals for original articles will be advertised.
Open access policy
This journal allows immediate open access to the content as it views that the results of research should favor the exchange of knowledge.
ESIC Market accepts articles relating to the focal points of the journal. Articles sent must be written in Spanish or in English. They have to be original (not having been published in another journal or other medium). During the review process it is forbidden for the article to be assessed in another journal.
The journal applies plagiarism detection policies. Whenever an original manuscript is received, anti-plagiarism software is used.
Process of peer-blind review
The editor and co-editors will do a preliminary review of the original sent in, on the basis of its consistency with the focus and scope of the journal. If the original meets both these, the members of the editorial board review the work for a second time, following the criteria of scientific merit, validity, relevance of the work, methodology, interest in the subject for the reader and presentation and understanding of the article as a whole.
If the original is suitable on the basis of these considerations it is sent off for peer-blind review. Two members of the External Review Board who have no potential conflict of interest with the authors will handle the scientific and technical review of the work.
The external reviewers will send in their reports with the review and recommendations to the Editorial Board, offering general comments for the editor and both general and specific comments for the authors. The authors will be sent constructive comments to help them improve their work, regardless of whether the Editorial Board accepts the original for publication or not. The editor sets out his reasons to the rest of the editorial board for why the article has been accepted or not. The final decision on acceptance for publication falls to the Editorial Board.
The editor and/or invited co-editors will communicate the final result (rejected, accepted or accepted with changes) of the review to the authors, including the reviewers’ comments. The originals reviewed will continue through the process of review if the revised work responds sufficiently to the reviewers’ requirements.
Bearing in mind that ESIC-Market is published under an open access policy that gives authors greater international prominence and an early impact for their contributions, rates are stipulated for the translation y/o corrección de estilo of articles, since these are published in two languages: Spanish and English.
Articles may be sent en inglés o castellano in either Word or Open Office (odt) format a firstname.lastname@example.org. The editorial team will confirm receipt of the originals received.
Along with the delivery of the anonymized manuscript and the title page, with the names, ORCIDS, affiliations and emails of the authors, we will also send the commitment of the authors that, should their article be accepted, they will send the final version in Spanish and English, with the corresponding official translation certificate (template),or undertake to accept the translation services of ESIC Market and the corresponding payment.
We would recommend the use of templates. The limit of contributions is 8,000 words with everything included. In addition to respecting the format indicated in the template, the following regulations should be follows:
Title: the title must describe the content of the work.
Authors: The authors must not include their names, details or any personal information in the manuscrito original. Their names and professional affiliation must be included in the dispatch process, where required, en una hoja aparte denominada hoja de título.
Abstract: The abstract has to include: objective and focus of the work, methodological design, findings and their value in terms of practical implications. It must not be more than 250 words long and must meet the structure indicated in the template. It must reflect only what is conveyed in the article.
Keywords: must add 5 keywords separated by semicolon “;”.
References: Quotes must be indicated in the text and alphabetically ordered in the references. The quotes and references must follow the 5th edition APA style. Avoid references to the authors in the version to be reviewed. If applicable replace by authors (year), until a final decision regarding the manuscript has been made.
The inclusion of the doi at the end of the articles is also compulsory, as specified in the examples in the previously mentioned templates
Acknowledgements: Prior to the reference section, the authors may thank the people or institutions which have helped to finance or carry out the research they are presenting in the article, once the reviewed manuscript has been approved.
Tables and figures: the tables and figures must be correctly numbered following their order of appearance in the text. They have to describe the table and /or figure contents and must include information sources.
Appendices: When necessary, the authors may add appendices to the document provided that the material is useful to other researchers (e.g. questionnaires which are used in surveys or econometric models).
The appendices have to appear after the bibliographic references, must be numbered (Appendix 1, 2, ...), and they must have a descriptive title of contents.
It is essential that these regulations be fulfilled prior to considering any article for assessment. The process terminates when the article is accepted or rejected. The journal is exempt from any responsibility for the contents of contributions it receives.
The journal reserves the right to made alterations to the article content, notifying the authors in this regard and respecting external criteria.
List of contents to prepare for article submission:
As an essential part of the submission process for originals, the authors must undertake to confirm that the following aspects are fulfilled. Should this not be the case the originals will be returned to the authors.
The journal offers information about the conditions of use and reuse of contents (Creative Commons and Open Access).

Dynamic Number Journal
ESIC-Market makes fast access to publications easy through a dynamic number system that cuts down the publishing time for articles accepted.
Through this system, and in line with the open access policy, ESIC-Market will publish the articles accepted on its web page. This way the contributions will be seen quickly. This system speeds up the impact of the contributions and offers the possibility of referencing the article sooner. With this system studies are publicized before the official closing date.
The journal applies the interoperability protocol OAI-PMH (Open Archives Initiative Protocol for Metadata Harvesting) that allows the transfer of digital resources, mainly of scientific nature and open access. Each article is described with Dublin Core meta tags.
Payment for review
ESIC-Market will pay for reviewing.
Reviewers will be paid for all revisions, provided that they are handed in before the deadline and meet the quality standards required by the editorial staff.
The editorial staff will assign articles in line with their area of knowledge and the terms laid down. ESIC-Market will pay €100 per article reviewed.
Ethical standards for publishing
Publishing articles in a scientific journal under a double-blind review system is a very relevant task for circulating knowledge and contributing to the development of academic and scientific communities. The accuracy of the publication depends on the quality of the reviews on the articles considered as potential for publishing. Ethical behavior is therefore expected from all parties intervening in the process: the author, the editor, the reviewer and the editorial staff.
The obligations of the authors, editors and reviewers have been explained following a code of ethics that can be consulted and that all parties have accepted.
The publishers aim to provide quality services, working openly with all involved in the process. One of the ways that helps the service to continue improving is by responding to complaints and accepting errors. For this purpose a text has been drafted with our complaints policy.
