One of our fundamental objectives is to promote scientific research and transfer our knowledge to society. To do this, ESIC has Research Promotion and Development Programmes.

In addition, competitive research areas are identified, new fields of study are explored that provide innovation and are tested against science. Quality research is promoted and published in respected media outlets, contributing to the motivation of research staff.

ACTION PLAN

  • OBJECTIVE 1: DOCTORAL THESIS AND ACCREDITATIONS

  • We encourage our professors to carry out doctoral theses and later present them in lectures, conferences or publish articles drawn from them.
  • In the same way we encourage our students to develop doctoral theses, making them aware of the importance of science and research during their studies.
  • We also promote the management of doctoral theses by ESIC professors.
  • OBJECTIVE 2: RESEARCH TEAMS

  • We support the creation of research teams with periodic publications in journals of national and international impact.
  • We encourage the establishment of generic or sectoral chairs with prestigious companies or business associations.
  • We promote the publication of research books focused on commercial management.
  • OBJECTIVE 3: AID POLICY

  • We offer support to researchers for articles published in books and journals of scientific relevance with a permanent national and international impact index, thanks to the "Format of support to publications".
  • We have grants to attend congresses where communication or other activities are presented that qualify for accreditation.
  • We want to know what matters to you, so we have analysed other grants proposed in the "Request/Exhibit Form".
  • Grants will be awarded on a discretionary basis, taking into account budgetary constraints. Please contact the Research Department for any comments or suggestions.

Research teams can be made up of several people, according to the following proposals:

  • RESEARCH TEAMS

  • They can be internal or in collaboration with other universities. If you want to create your own research team, we have a specific format for those who request it.
  • CHAIRS

  • Means to develop research projects with academic and commercial exploitation (business assessment, articles, books, cases ,...).
  • CENTRES OR INSTITUTES

  • We offer the possibility to collaborate with other centres or institutes.

Our 2020 Strategic Plan includes a series of activities to be carried out in all School's units and territories with the aim of promoting Research to bring us closer to the business world, to support the employability of our students and to be a reference point in Marketing and Digital Economy. Logically, all of this is aligned with ESIC's corporate objectives. These activities have been developed by the Research Department together with the members of the Management Committee: Teresa Freire (General Secretary), Segundo Huarte (Dean of the University Area of ESIC and President of the Research Committee) and Antonio Martín (Dean of the Postgraduate and Executive Education Area of ESIC).

PHD CYCLE

The doctorate cycle can be started by taking a University Master’s degree. ESIC offers the following:

Academic Chairs

ESIC's Research Policy envisages the creation of generic or sectoral chairs with prestigious companies or business associations, as a means of developing research projects that lead to academic and commercial exploitation (business assessments, articles, books, cases,...). A partner can finance the long-term activity of the Chair which could bear his name.

What do we offer the company?

  • Image, visibility
  • Human capital and growth
  • Structural and relational capital
  • Presence in congresses and scientific conferences
  • Presentation of success stories
  • Teaching presence
  • Business Assessments

Case studies

At ESIC we believe that the university should approach the company. The knowledge derived from the research activity of professors and researchers can be used by all organisations, strengthening the necessary link between the academic and business environments from the perspective of innovative culture.

In fact, the promotion of scientific and technical research, providing adequate means of dissemination, is one of our missions. For this reason, ESIC is making a notable effort in its own research, as well as offering channels and support to researchers and authors through our journals and our publishing house.

An interesting initiative in this regard is the establishment of a line of research activity and, at the same time, publishing, business case studies. The case methodology is a complement to training and teaching which, through participatory teamwork, facilitates the acquisition of knowledge and decision-making which, moreover,(and is important) can be tested.

The particularity, and an added value, of this line of work from ESIC is complementing the case text with an audiovisual presentation, by means of the DVD that accompanies it. In this, the key points of success as told by the protagonists are presented, as well as many essential aspects that are difficult to narrate in an accurate written form. Therefore, the cases acquire a different dimension, thanks, of course, to the collaboration of the company, providing information and, in many cases, funding the work.

University-business collaboration

Collaboration with companies is manifested in the educational and professional field, both in Undergraduate and Postgraduate Studies and Executive Education, through the participation of people working in such companies in various activities: conferences, seminars, internships, visits, etc.

Likewise, carrying out case studies of a company's success is an essential activity in the training of our students and professionals.
