Academic Plan

Financial Analysis and International Trade Finance are two core subjects within the Finance for Trade Business module, giving you the essential tools to understand and apply financial data effectively as a business manager.

In Financial Analysis, you’ll build a solid foundation in business economics and finance. You’ll learn to interpret financial statements, assess profitability, and manage risk to support informed decision-making.

In International Trade and Supply Chain Finance, you’ll explore financial instruments such as credit, insurance, and global payment methods. You’ll also address trade-related risks and examine emerging technologies like blockchain.

Together, these subjects prepare you to manage internal financial operations and navigate the complexities of global trade finance with confidence and strategic insight.

Throughout the course, you’ll learn to manage cross-border logistics, sourcing, and trade regulations; design efficient and resilient value chains using advanced technologies; and understand the strategic impact of global trade policies and legal frameworks. This subject will prepare you to manage risk, boost competitiveness, and lead successfully in today’s fast-changing global landscape.

In this subject, you will learn to identify, create, and implement the necessary plans to generate value derived from the strategy defined in the Global Management module. You will start with the definition of international marketing and commercial plans, the forecast of demand, and the quantification of commercial objectives in a particular selected market, which will be supported in the decisions and plans about products, services, prices, customer experience, channels, communication, and actions to generate this demand.

The programme offers 2 optional subjects to accomplish the programme. You must select one of them:

OPTION 1: An International Stay at Shanghai International Studies University (SISU), China

You’ll have the opportunity to spend one month at SISU, an AMBA-accredited institution in Shanghai, where you’ll immerse yourself in the culture and gain first-hand insight into the Asian market. This international stay offers a unique programme focused on doing business in Asia, helping you expand your global perspective and professional network, meeting the areas below:

  • Consumer Behaviour and Applied Neuroscience
  • Fintech Accounting and Corporate Finance
  • Smart Operations and Supply Chain Management

OPTION 2: Operational Management II: If you don’t select Option 1, you’ll remain in Madrid to take this subject and dive deeper into four additional topics in Operational Management. This path allows for a more comprehensive development of the operational side of international trade and helps you build on and expand the knowledge acquired in Operational Management I.

In both subjects, you will attend several workshops, visits and networking sessions.

This course enhances employability through training activities focused on developing key skills for the professional environment. As part of your learning journey, you will have the opportunity to access additional spaces for knowledge and networking by selecting — from a list of masterclasses, workshops, and events — the activities that best align with your professional interests and development goals within the programme.

The main objective is to design a Business Plan (BP) for the internationalization of a non-existing product from an existing company. The BP must target at least one non-EU country, though either the origin or destination may be in Europe. It can involve launching a new company, business unit, or market entry strategy. It bridges to the professional world by enhancing research, critical thinking, ethical judgment, and leadership aligned with global business need, while students apply knowledge to strategic challenges, conduct applied research, propose innovative solutions, make ethical decisions, and lead effectively using theory, data, and advanced resources.

Our Master’s Degree in International Trade & Business in Madrid is taught at ESIC Business & Marketing School campus. Our campus in Madrid was inaugurated in 2021 and has 40 classrooms, an auditorium for 300 people, 16 work rooms, 5 meeting points, a gym, a mindfulness room, a cafeteria, and much more. Our classrooms are full of students from our master's and postgraduate programmes specialising in marketing, management, and technology. The campus is the place to network, work on your ideas, and learn. But, above all, it is the perfect place to live in the present and build the future.
