Jesús Centenera Ulecia

Director of Corporate International Development, ESIC

He holds a PhD in Contemporary History from UNED and has completed an MBA at Esden, the General Management Programme at IESE and a Diploma in Foreign Trade and European Studies at CEPADE (Autonomous University of Madrid). A multilingual professional, he speaks Spanish as his native language and has varying levels of proficiency in English, French, Russian, German, Italian, Catalan, Portuguese, Dutch and Tagalog.
Since 2002, he has been Managing Partner at Agerón Internacional, a consultancy specialising in international market research and business internationalisation. Alongside his executive career, he has been a lecturer at ESIC and other business schools in Spain and abroad, teaching courses on internationalisation, economic environment and market research. He has authored two books and contributes monthly to Moneda Única magazine.

Mariano Méndez Suárez

Vice Rector for Research at ESIC University

Is an Associate Professor at ESIC Market Research and Quantitative Methods Department, accredited by ANECA. He is currently serving as Research Director at ESIC University, with recognition from for one sixyear research period. He completed his MBA at the University of Houston/MBS and his PhD in Finance at the Autonomous University of Madrid. Since then, he has lectured at UCM, UAM, and ESIC University, teaching undergraduate, graduate, and Executive MBA programs. He has published articles in Clarivate-JCR and SCOPUS-indexed journals, contributed to several book chapters, and authored four books with recognized publishing houses. One of his books highlights statistical techniques and the use of R software for market research.

His experience extends to leading competitive research projects, serving as Associate Editor for Clarivate-JCR indexed journals, and participating in international academic conferences. During his tenure as Head of the Department of Market Research and Quantitative Methods, he coordinated both course content and faculty across ESIC’s campuses in Spain. He has also supervised doctoral dissertations and guided numerous students through research processes that emphasize methodological precision. His background includes academic collaborations with various international institutions, focusing on empirical analyses and quantitative insights for business decision-making.

Throughout his career, he has received recognition for his dedication to teaching excellence and his ability to translate complex theories into practical applications, becoming a Fellow of the UK Higher Education Academy. Beyond lecturing, he actively participates in academic boards and committees, contributing to strategic program development and student mentorship. His thorough approach reflects a commitment to advancing analytical competencies within higher education.

María Eizaguirre Diéguez

I am a Professor of Marketing and Head of the Academic Department of Marketing at ESIC University, where my research explores how innovation emerges, is adopted, and creates value in entrepreneurial contexts. My work integrates customer-centric strategy, digital transformation, and sustainability to understand how businesses, particularly entrepreneurs, design, communicate, and deliver market-facing innovation.Trained as an anthropologist (DPhil, University of Oxford; Rhodes Scholar), I bring a human-centric perspective to marketing and innovation.

My background in evolutionary and cultural approaches to human behaviour informs how I study the adaptive, relational, and symbolic dimensions of markets: how people and cultures shape, and are shaped by, market change. This unique perspective is informed by an early career in strategic marketing, customer insight, and international brand management.

My research has been published in Q1 journals in marketing, entrepreneurship, and innovation management, spanning topics such as crowdfunding, digital transformation, customer experience, and sustainable consumption. I frequently collaborate across disciplines and countries, partnering with both scholars and industry leaders to produce research that is academically rigorous and practically relevant.Before returning to academia, I led marketing and insight functions for global organisations in FMCG and higher education.

This industry background continues to inform my teaching and research, ensuring that my work addresses the complex realities faced by businesses and society today. I welcome collaboration with researchers, doctoral candidates, and practitioners who share an interest in advancing understanding of how markets evolve through innovation, entrepreneurship, and customer-centric approaches.
